Xbox One Backwards Compatibility UPDATE: Four new titles and Games with Gold

It was a quiet month for the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility program in November.

In total, nine new Xbox 360 titles were added over the four weeks, quite a drop from October.

This was mostly due to October seeing the release of the first batch of original Xbox games into the BC library.

The past week also saw a number of releases, adding a total of four new games to play on Xbox One.

Xbox’s Larry Hryb confirmed that both Earth Defense Force 2017 and Sonic Adventure 2 are now playable away from their original platform of the Xbox 360.

The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.

Sonic Adventure 2 is the most popular of the two, having received over 12,000 votes for its inclusion on the official BC leaderboards.

Earth Defense Force 2017 has a much lower vote count but is also a little less well-known.

The third-person shooter developed by Sandlot is actually an Xbox 360 exclusive, originally launched back in 2006.

“Planet Earth is under attack from alien invaders, and the EDF is our only chance for survival,” the official game description explains.

“Grab your gun, join your squad and repel the attacking forces. You are Earth’s last line of defense!

“Already a smash hit in Japan, the Earth Defense Force series comes to the US for the first time in this action-packed, arcade-style, action-shooter.”

Microsoft also launched two other games earlier this week, Peggle 2 and Marlow Briggs and the Mask of the Death now available to download and play on Xbox One and Xbox One X.

Peggle 2 is the most requested of the two, earning over 1,000 votes on the official Backwards Compatible leaderboards.

It’s also been confirmed by Microsoft’s Larry Hryb that both games can be installed via disc, as long as they can be found.

The new Games with Gold December 2017 lineup is also now live to download on Xbox One and Xbox One X.

Subscribers have all month to download Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, while November’s Tales from the Borderlands is scheduled be replaced mid-month.

December 16 will see the release of Back to the Future: The Game – 30th Anniversary Edition.

Those who want to boost their collection Xbox One Backwards Compatibility games can download Child of Eden.

This will be followed by Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death, both of which were recently added to the BC library.

Microsoft and other leading publishers sometimes offer betas and demos as part of the Xbox Live subscription, although none have been confirmed for December.

There’s is a new phase of the Sea of Thieves technical alpha kicking off soon, however, to be invited to that you must be an Insiders Programme member.
