Tiger Woods: I’ve answered my critics during Hero World Challenge

The American entered the competition in Barbados as a 40/1 rank outsider and few had given him the slightest chance of success.

But he made a positive start to the first two days and sat tied for third in his first competitive tournament since having surgery on his lower back.

However, he struggled with the early holes on day three and slipped 10 behind leader Charley Hoffman.

Despite his recent fall in the leaderboard, Woods spoke of his excitement of being back battling at the top of the rankings.

And he believes that he has proved a lot of people wrong by competing with the best in the world once again.

“I like to be able to fight out there.

“Unfortunately I just couldn’t get it turned around.

“That’s just the way it goes sometimes. I’m not the only one who’s struggling at times out here.

“That’s just golf. We’re always going to face adversity.

“It was frustrating that I couldn’t get it turned around on the easier holes.”
