What makes it even more horrifying is that the parallel with Emperor Palpatine is completely obvious. How amazing would it be if Snoke turned out to be the long-lost Sith master also known as Darth Sidious?

They both look equally ancient and badly scarred by previous battles. Now, it seems, they both share a sinister rictus of a smile.

Is this shot of Snoke another moment from his hugely-anticipated encounter with Rey. We know from the spine-tingling clips in the various trailers that he will torture her. Will he also try and win her over with terrible offers of power?
