Pokemon Go Ho Oh Raid: Latest news on tough timed event following Niantic update

Niantic released the news yesterday that Trainers now have until December 12 to capture a new Legendary Pokemon.

Pokemon Go Ho Oh Raids are now live at Gyms worldwide, having been rumoured for sometime.

It has also been revealed just how easy it is to beat Ho Oh during one of these new Legendary Battles.

According to the team at the Pokemon Go Hub, Ho Oh has a base capture rate of just 2%.

It essentially means that to have any real chance of catching the Legendary bird, Trainers will need to use a Golden Razz Berry, combined with an Excellent throw.

vCard QR Code

vCard.red is a free platform for creating a mobile-friendly digital business cards. You can easily create a vCard and generate a QR code for it, allowing others to scan and save your contact details instantly.

The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.

If you can do that, you can boost your chances of capturing Ho Oh to over 15%.

But when it comes to actually catching Ho Oh, are there any real big rewards?

As Trainers will already know, Legendary types can’t be used to hold Gyms but can be useful taking down tough Raid opponents.

And from what the PoGo Hub team estimate, it seems that Ho Oh won’t be a much bigger then having an Entei in your team.

“Although Ho-Oh does have a relatively high Max CP value (3889), it’s a lot less useful than a Mewtwo, as it’s move sets and typing creates an unwanted gap between expectation and reality,” the Pokemon Go Hub explains.

“With no Quick Move that benefits from STAB and with double weakness to ROCK, Ho-Oh is a rather disappointing addition to the Uber tier, continuing the tradition of lackluster FIRE Ubers.

“If you already have a strong Entei, the power difference will hardly be notable, but we still recommend farming Ho-Oh for it’s future rarity and trading value.”

And when it comes to the all the other bonuses fans are currently enjoying, Niantic had some more good news.

While Ho Oh will be available to catch until December 12, the other Pokemon Go Global Catch Challenge rewards will be disappearing a lot sooner.

The double Stardust, double XP and 6 hour-long Lure Modules are set to stick around until Friday, December 1.

“Good news, Trainers! You’ll continue to receive double Stardust and double XP until 1:00 P.M. PST on December 1.”

That means the bonuses won’t actually run out in the UK until around 9pm that same evening, giving fans plenty of time to stock up on Stardust.

Trainers are hoping that this latest event will be followed by another one, centered around the holiday season.

While it seems pretty logical that Niantic would repeat the seasonal event they held last year, they do have some other big plans for December.

This includes the launch of Gen 3 Pocket Monsters, with the first batch launched during the Halloween Celebrations.
