NEWCASTLE 0-0 WATFORD

Analysis from our reporter Ian Murtagh, at St James’ Park.

28: Watford are one up but it should be two. Will Hughes scored his second goal inside a week, following up his effort against West Ham with the opener against Rafa Benitez’ side.

It was a cool finish from the former Derby midfielder who only made his full Hornets’ debut on November 5, following a fine cross by Marvin Zeegelaar.

The Toon are affording Zeegelaar far too much space and he’s wreaking havoc down the left.

And two minutes after Hughes, struck, Abdoulaye Doucoure should have converted another great delivery but he slices horribly wide.

MANCHESTER UNITED 0-0 BRIGHTON

Analysis from our reporter Richard Tanner, at Old Trafford.

25: The Seagulls are giving a good account of themselves in the first League game between these clubs for 34 years and have looked the more dangerous team.

Pascal Gross has sent a couple of shots straight at David De Gea while Anthony Knockaert’s low cross went right through the six yard box without anyone able to get a touch on it.

United have been a bit disjointed so far. Romelu Lukaku fired their only opening embarrassingly high and wide while Martial’s appeals for a penalty were ignored by referee Neil Swarbrick after he had run into Lewis Dunk.

MANCHESTER UNITED 0-0 BRIGHTON

22: This is far from comfortable for Manchester United. Brighton aren’t overawed by the occasion and are giving a seriously good account of themselves. Knockaert is having Young on toast down the right flank and looks the most likely source of a goal for the visitors.

NEWCASTLE 0-1 WATFORD – HUGHES

18: Watford take the lead as Marvin Zeegelaar trots down the left and pulls the ball back for Will Hughes, who finishes low into the bottom left corner.

TOTTENHAM 0-1 WEST BROM

Analysis from our reporter Matt Dunn, at Wembley

20: Unexpected scenes at Wembley – although West Brom have not managed to win the last three times they have taken the lead in the Premier League this season.

Alli seemed half asleep when he lost the ball, Sanchez easily caught up with Rodriguez but his challenge was too lightweight and the West Brom striker’s shot seemed to trickle into the net.

Tottenham are now looking to camp in the West Brom half and Megson’s five-man defence have a long afternoon ahead of them. Coping well so far, though.

SWANSEA 0-0 BOURNEMOUTH

18: Big chance! Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s effort is blocked after a delightful tee up from Zaha, who dribbled his way through the Stoke midfield.

NEWCASTLE 0-0 WATFORD

Analysis from our reporter Ian Murtagh, at St James’ Park.

15: Jacob Murphy’s not made too much of an impact since his £12m switch from Norwich to Newcastle.

But the Canary-turned Magpie has made a lively start at St James’ Park this afternoon, sending in one dangerous cross which just eluded Joselu.

And Matt Ritchie came close to opening his season’s account with a shot which crashed into the side-netting.

Newcastle are on top but Watford look far from overawed.

CRYSTAL PALACE 0-0 STOKE

13: What’s going on in South London then. Well, Aside from a snapshot from Shaqiri that flew wide – not too much.

MANCHESTER UNITED 0-0 BRIGHTON

10: Danger! Knockaert and Gross combine nicely but De Gea anticipates the cross and collects before the lurking Murray could connect. The Seagulls then win a free-kick that Gross delivers but Matic is there to clear.

MANCHESTER UNITED 0-0 BRIGHTON

7: Romelu Lukaku is really lacking confidence, and that won’t help one little bit. The forward exchanges passes with Anthony Martial before blazing it 35-yards wide…

TOTTENHAM 0-1 WEST BROM – RONDON

5: Errrr… managerless West Brom have taken the lead at Wembley through Salomon Rondon. The robust forward is played in by Livermore, shrugs off Sanchez and rolls it past Lloris. Who needs Pulis!!?

SWANSEA 0-0 BOURNEMOUTH

3: Chance! King is too big and too strong for Roque Mesa. He gets to the byline and crosses for Pugh, who scuffs a shot at the goalkeeper.

TOTTENHAM 0-0 WEST BROM

Analysis from our reporter Matt Dunn, at Wembley

1: Wembley as flat as it has been before a Tottenham game – perhaps it is becoming just that little bit too familiar and the league table, with Manchester City flying high, a little bit too depressing.

Of course, Tottenham are expected to win against Gary Megson’s West Brom side and it will be interesting to see if the Baggies are any more inventive than under the much-criticised Tony Pulis – with Sam Field coming in and Grzegorz Krychowiak left on the bench.

Danny Rose has not even made it that for. Left to train in Enfield with Erik Lamela again, he admitted he was “fuming” when that happened last Saturday. I doubt his mood is any better today, but Mauricio Pochettino seems to be making a point.

Subs: Rojo, Ibrahimovic, Romero, Ander Herrera, Mkhitaryan, Fellaini, McTominay.

Brighton XI: Ryan, Saltor, Duffy, Dunk, Bong, Knockaert, Stephens, Propper, March, Gross, Murray.

RIPE CHERRIES

14:50: Swansea have lost seven of their last eight matches and sit 19th in the Premier League table.

With Palace below them showing signs of revival, there is a distinct possibility Paul Clement’s side could be bottom by the turn of the year unless form improves.

Results at home have been particularly disappointing – they have managed only one win at the Liberty Stadium this season.

Swansea host Bournemouth, with the Cherries on the up after four wins in five. Clement insists he has the support of the club’s owners but more disappointment, and the pressure will mount.

RETURN OF THE MEG..

14:45: Under Tony Pulis, West Brom became something of a bogey team for Spurs, managing three consecutive draws against Mauricio Pochettino’s side, between two convincing defeats.

In fact, Tottenham have only beaten West Brom twice in their last seven meetings with them at home, a record that points to a more long-standing problem when trying to break down resilient opponents.

The irony then is that with Pulis gone, West Brom are likely to play more freely this weekend, which in turn would play into Tottenham’s hands. Interim boss Gary Megson will want to appease the fans but this might not be the week to do it.

PALACE READY FOR LIFT-OFF?

14:35: This weekend marks 10 weeks since Roy Hodgson’s first game in charge at Palace, with fans still waiting for the revival he was supposed to spark.

There have been near-misses – Southampton, Newcastle and Tottenham all beat them by a single goal – and missed opportunities, with home games against West Ham and Everton, both woefully out of form, yielding only two points.

Performances have improved, and luck has played a part, but Palace must now capitalise on a kinder run of fixtures, starting at home to Stoke. It is time to deliver.

HENRIKH MKHITARYAN HAS TO DO

14:20: Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has warned under-performing Henrikh Mkhitaryan to cut out the “disappearing” acts.

Last season he recovered from an inauspicious start to play a key role in United’s Europa League triumph, but this term a promising start to the campaign has markedly tapered off.

That drop-off led Mourinho to omit him from the last two matchday squads and the Portuguese wants a reaction as he prepares to bring the Armenian back into the fold in Saturday’s Premier League clash against Brighton.

“I was not happy with his last performances,” the United boss said. “I’m not speaking about one or two, I’m speaking about three, four or five. He started the season very well and after that step by step he was disappearing.”

TOTTENHAM vs WEST BROM – TEAM NEWS

14:15: Where’s Danny Rose? He’s not in the matchday squad… again! Mauricio Pochettino played down talk of a rift between himself and Rose after the England international was left out of last week’s north London derby against Arsenal.

But after playing 90 minutes against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday – Ben Davies is preferred.

The Argentine has made a couple of changes from last week’s defeat with Son and Winks replacing Sissoko and Dembele.

Caretaker boss Gary Megson makes two changes. Nyom and Field are in for McAuley and Krychowiak.

MANCHESTER UNITED vs BRIGHTON – TEAM NEWS

14:10: It looks like Jose Mourinho has settled on his best starting XI because Manchester United are unchanged from last weekend’s victory over Newcastle.

Paul Pogba makes his third-successive start since returning from injury. He partners Nemanja Matic in central midfield.

Further forward Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford will support Romelu Lukaku, who needs a return to form.

As for Brighton, Chris Hughton makes one change with Solly March replacing Jose Izquierdo.
