Star Wars 8: First REVIEW of the opening TEN minutes shown in Mexico – FULL description

The latest exciting reveals come following a massive Star Wars event in Mexico earlier this week.

Disney and Lucasfilm revealed just over ten minutes of the opening scenes amid tight security.

However one of those who were lucky enough to see the Last Jedi footage has posted her reactions, including descriptions of the scene, comments on the tone, style and surprising humour of the new movie.

There was one thing, though, that she said did not fit with the usual Star Wars movies.

WARNING SPOILERS

The Youtube channel Fuera de Foco posted the video of the female journalist in Spanish which we have translated. The site has interviewed major actors and seems legitimate.

She said: “We saw 10, 12 or 13 minutes of the film. We saw Poe Dameron and BB8. He is trying to destroy the weapons on a huge powerful First Order ship…

“In this scene the interaction is mostly with General Hux, played by Domhall Gleeson.”

This seems almost certainly to be the Evacuation of D’Qar, which is expected to open the movie as the First Order attacks the Resistance base.

The report continues: “What can I tell you about the scene? Remember there is a new director, Rian Johnson, and I can assure you that the film has lost none of the essence of Star Wars. The action is excellent and this is a film you need to see in IMAX. I already like this film more than Episode 7.

“There is a moment when a new character’s life is at risk. The movie immediately makes us care about their life, even though we have never seen them before. The way they create the scene and tension is fantastic.

“Truly Oscar is wonderful again in the role.”

Who is this new character. It is most likely to be Rose, who is a Resistance engineer. Although it could also be Vice Admiral Holdo.

The site adds: “One thing does bother me, related to an amusing moment. It is a scene with various jokes but it is a style of comedy that is very different from what we have seen in Star Wars. It seemed very ‘Marvel’.

“We are used to characters like R2-D2 and C-3PO, or Han Solo or even Rey having humorous moments. But this felt different, it was a scene actually making fun of a character which we have never seen in Star Wars. It jumped out from the usual style.”
