Pokemon Go Travel event REVEALED: Niantic drop news on latest update and rewards

Niantic have confirmed that they will be releasing a new Pokemon Go Travel event, complete with community rewards.

It appears that the development team might be skipping out on the Pokemon Go Thanksgiving celebration this year and opting for something different instead.

The Pokemon GO Travel and the Global Catch Challenge was confirmed today, and will include a host of rewards for Trainers.

This Global Catch Challenge will include trying to catch 3 billion Pokémon in just 7 days.

“Play along with IHasCupquake, Coisa de Nerd, and Rachel Quirico as they learn more about Japanese culture, inspire the world to play together, and update you on the amazing rewards the community unlocks along the way,” a message from Niantic explains.

“We can’t wait to take you along on this amazing adventure and hear what you think about the Pokémon GO Travel tour.

“We’ll be posting daily updates on Rachel, Tiffany, Gabi, and Leon’s adventures and are curious to see your updates, too.”

This new Pokemon Go event has now started and and concludes with a special celebration at the Pokemon GO Safari Zone event in Tottori, Japan, on November 26.

This sounds like a direct replacement for the Thanksgiving celebration run last year by Niantic, unless the company plans on running two events, side-by-side.

Currently the Global Catch Challenge rewards come in three categories, Bronze, Silver and Gold.

500 millions catches unlocks Bronze rewards, which include double XP, six-hour lure modules and more Pokemon popping up.

1.5 Billion catches unlocks Silver rewards, which includes all of the above and x2 Stardust.

3 Billion Pocket Monster catches unlocks Gold rewards, which include all of the above, as well as FarFetch’d being released worldwide for 48 hours, alongside Kangaskhan becoming available in East Asia for 48 hours.

“Ever since Pokémon GO launched, we’ve loved hearing stories of Trainers venturing abroad and playing together with new friends from different countries,” Niantic adds.

“That’s what inspired us to create Pokémon GO Travel, a new video series to see the world through the eyes of a Pokémon Trainer.

“To kick things off, Pokémon GO Travel is taking a diverse group of Trainers from around the world to Japan to host our first-ever Global Catch Challenge.

“Stock up on Poké Balls, Trainers. The Global Catch Challenge starts now and concludes with a special celebration at the Pokémon GO Safari Zone event in Tottori, Japan, on November 26.”
