Kyrie Irving: Boston Celtics star makes HILARIOUS mask claim

Irving, who suffered a facial fracture in the win over the Charlotte Hornets, helped the Celtics to their 15th win on the bounce against Atlanta Hawks last night.

The point guard, who dropped a game-high 30 points from just 12 field goal attempts in the 110-99 victory over the Atlanta Hawks, previously wore a clear mask for the Cleveland Cavaliers back in 2012.

Jaylen Brown, meanwhile, scored a career-high 27 points as the Celtics produced another memorable highlight in their season.

But Irving has joked he felt he could see more of the court and crowd with the mask on.

“I could see just a little bit more of the crowd tonight.

“The eye holes are a little bit bigger.

“The basket looked a little bit better.”

Meanwhile, coach Brad Stevens still thinks there are areas the Celtics need to improve on.

He said: “I think that the biggest thing is we can’t keep digging these holes.

“We need to put an emphasis on playing with pace.”

Celtics still need another four wins to match their longest-ever winning streak which dates back to 2008.

They take on the Dallas Mavericks next on Tuesday (1.30am BST).
