David Moyes goes on live TV and declares: I want West Ham job

The former Manchester United and Sunderland boss is in the running to replace under-pressure Slaven Bilic following the Hammers’ 4-1 loss to Liverpool.

Fans have bombarded owner David Gold with messages on Twitter begging him not to bring in the Scot.

Moyes revealed on beIN SPORTS that no talks had been held but admitted he does want the job.

Quizzed on the matter by Richard Keys, Moyes said: “The answer is I’ve had no contact from West Ham.

“I’ve always said I want to go back into club management and that would be my choice and if the right opportunity comes around I’ll be interested.

“I’m interested but until that vacancy becomes available… it’s not available.

“I’ve been there myself and I know what Slaven is going through and he’ll be hating it but wanting to get a result as quick as he can.

“If it becomes available yes, but at the moment it’s not available.”

Keys then pushes Moyes to see if the location mattered when looking at potential jobs.

The Scot replied: “The geography doesn’t matter if I feel it’s a good club.

“North or south, it doesn’t matter.”

Talk of Moyes coming in at the London Stadium has prompted fans to bombard Gold on Twitter in a bid to stop the appointment going through.

Sending the message directly to Gold’s account, one fan wrote: “David moyes? Did you learn nothing from the Avram Grant debacle? Give your head a f**king wobble you senile old p***k #WHU.”

Another said: “please please please do NOT get Moyes! 1 good season at Everton and then rubbish every season since.”

A fellow Irons fan wrote: “Please get a great manager at all costs, not Moyes.”

While another tweeted: “please dear god. Not David Moyes. Has everyone forgot how good he was at Man United, Spain and Sunderland. I’d rather have BFS.”

Bilic admitted yesterday he is under “big pressure” and in a “very difficult” situation at the club.

“The pressure mounts game by game and at this moment it is big,” he said.

“We will see what the club will do. The club is above everyone. I don’t feel a broken man. On the other hand, the situation for West Ham is not good and the club is above every individual.”
