After finally revealing Snoke in all his withered and gold-robed glory, the first proper look at his throne room showed his Praetorian guards, Armitage Hux and some inriguing new machines.
But did you also spot those two tall and robed figures lurking by the machine next to Snoke’s throne? Are they the emissaries sent by Palpatine years before?

They are clearly very tall and not human. Hux is standing much closer to the camera but is the same height.
This has imemdiately lead some fans to speculate they are the same race as the mysterious First Order leader. Others have suggested that they could be jawas. But many are convinced they are not even living creatures at all.

A new thread has sprung up on Reddit consumed with arguments and counter arguments over the two figures.
They are clearly working on the machine next to Snoke’s throne.
This is believed to be some sort of device which helps the ancient being drain Force energy and store and convert it for his own use to prolong his life and enhance his power.

This would certainly be an incredible reveal since it is already known from the Empire’s End novels by Chuck Wendig that Palpatine had been sending messages and seeking contact with a mysterious power (presumed to be Snoke) in Unknown Space.
However, it is more likely that the robed figures are simply some form of droid technician, operating and maintaining the machine so vital to Snoke’s survival. They may even be some form of living or android doctor, responsible for monitering and protecting the Supreme Leader’s health.
