Mary Berry Horseradish Sauce recalled from Tesco stores for THIS shock reason

An error with the labelling is the cause for the TV chef’s condiment being taken off Tesco shelves.

The product, which is supplied to the supermarket by fine food importer and distributor RH Amar, fails to mention it contains sulphites which can trigger allergy-like symptoms for people who suffer with asthma and allergic rhinitis.

The product recall publicised by Tesco affects jars that expire in September 2018.

The batch code of those affected is L&264.

Sulphites are used in some foods as a preservative to make them last longer.

While it is extremely rare for someone to have an allergic reaction to sulphites, sensitivities are common and can become life-threatening in severe cases.

A Tesco spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “At the request of our supplier we have recalled selected batches of this product as a precautionary measure.

“Customers who have a sensitivity to sulphites should either contact the supplier to request a replacement or return the product to one of our stores for a full refund.”

If you know you have a jar at home or find one in your cupboards you can return it to any Tesco store for a full refund.

Alternatively you can call 01494 895507 for a replacement sample to be sent to you.
