While the PUBG release date on PS4 still looks some way away, things are moving along on the Xbox One and PC front.
While at very different phases of development, Battlegrounds on Xbox One will launch on December 12, as part of the Preview Program.
That means it will be in early access and will likely need months of new updates before the full build is released.
Then there’s the PUBG PC version, which is going to launch properly on Steam in late December.
“In addition to announcing Xbox’s XGP launch date on December 12, we also shared the exciting news that we’re on track to launch 1.0 for the PC version in late December,” PUBG Corp. CEO Chang Han Kim revealed today.

“This has been an amazing year for us and launching both 1.0 on PC and on Xbox through Xbox Game Preview are huge milestones for the team.
“I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come in such a short time, but I’m even more excited to say that we’re just getting started.”
The full launch of Battlegrounds will include a new desert map, which is currently being worked on as part of the launch.
But none of this latest news helps those on PS4, who are still waiting to find out more.
Currently, developers Bluehole Inc have confirmed they are eager to reach as many platforms as possible.
However, that doesn’t mean anything big arriving in 2017.
PUBG’s release date could even be delayed on PS4, as Microsoft have reportedly been attempting to strike a new deal with Bluehole.
Sources close to the project said that Microsoft wants to extend its PUBG exclusivity deal.
It’s suggested that Xbox One would have exclusive console rights to the game until the middle of next year, or maybe even longer.
So far, we know that PUBG on PS4 is a likely outcome, with Bluehole founder Chang Byung-gyu confirming talks were on with other console companies to bring the game to a larger audience.
And there is some good news as well.
Microsoft’s big announcement today states that “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is coming to Xbox One as a console launch exclusive through the Xbox Game Preview program on December 12, 2017.”
A “console launch exclusive” suggests that nothing major has changed between Microsoft and Bluehole Inc. to that would bar it launching on PS4 in 2018.
There’s also the fact that the studio will be looking to tap into the PlayStation market, which now include over 67 million consoles sold.
That would be a hard thing to pass up, especially since Fortnite Battle Royale has been so well received on it.
