New York terror: Donald Trump steps up ‘extreme vetting program’ after Manhattan attack

The President took to Twitter to share the news that he is upping his pledge to crack down on immigration following the incident of terror.

He said: “I have just ordered Homeland Security to step up our already Extreme Vetting Program. Being politically correct is fine, but not for this!”

Prior to his tweet surrounding the initiative, Trump attacked ISIS by stating that the US should not open its borders to terrorism.

He added: “We must not allow ISIS to return, or enter, our country after defeating them in the Middle East and elsewhere. Enough!”

Trump discussed plans of a travel ban that was labelled a “Muslim ban” by critics during his Presidential campaign.

The third version of Trump’s travel ban recently received a preliminary injunction in a blow to the President’s ambitions of banning travellers from six Muslim-majority countries and North Korea.

ISIS supporters have been praising the deadly truck rampage in New York which killed eight people yesterday as law enforcement sources revealed the suspect left behind handwritten notes pledging loyalty to the terror group.

New York was left devastated by another deadly terror attack after a driver ploughed a truck through crowds in lower Manhattan killing eight and injuring a dozen more.

The driver is suspected to be Sayfullo Saipov, 29, who is said to have pledged his allegiance to ISIS before the attack as police found notes written in Arabic and a picture of the terror group’s black flag in the Home Depot truck.

Witnesses have also claimed the driver screamed “Allahu Akbar” when got out of the vehicle, but this has not been confirmed by authorities.

Following the attack, pro-ISIS channels have reportedly been posting vile posters online featuring photographs from the scene.

The suspect was armed with two weapons and began running before being shot by police. The weapons later turned out to be imitation firearms.

US media named him as Sayfullo Saipov, a Florida resident who came to the US in 2010.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio described the attack “cowardly act of terror aimed at innocent civilians”.
