Multiple sources suggest the Blanchardstown shopping centre was evacuated after a teenager armed with a rifle was spotted inside, although this has not yet been confirmed.
Images emerging from the scene show a large police presence and a number of onlookers stood outside the entrance.
Armed police officers, known as garda in Ireland, are on hand and shoppers are not being allowed inside.
A garda spokesperson said they could confirm a number of gardaí [police officers] are at the scene, but declined to comment on the nature of the incident “for operational reasons”.
A helicopter has been spotted overhead as authorities try to get the situation under control.
