Act fast, it’s your last chance to send your name to Mars

The clock is ticking to have your name launched into space.

The InSight Mars lander is scheduled to head to the red planet in May, but the end of the day Wednesday marks the deadline to get an official boarding pass. That means that even if you can’t get to Mars next year, your name can.

NASA is etching names onto a microchip that will be placed aboard the spacecraft. The lander, InSight, is expected to land on Mars next November.

The launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California was supposed to happen in 2016, but was moved to 2018. So some people already have their “boarding passes” from signing up when the opportunity was first offered.

It’s a fairly easy process to get a boarding pass: head to NASA’s InSight website and fill out the form.

A tracker shows more than 2.3 million names already submitted.

Above is my boarding pass, a chance for my name to be written among the stars. Grab your own before it’s too late — you have until 11:59 p.m. ET tonight.
