Drivers woke up this morning to frozen cars leading to a frantic dash to get get the ice off before travelling to work.
Not only could the mad dash to get the ice off your screen damage it, you could also be breaking the law in the process, reports Chronicle Live.
One motorist was fined £30 on their driveway while defrosting their car, reported Chronicle Live, because he left the vehicle unattended with the engine running.

Car insurance experts have stated that drivers who start their car on a cold morning and then return inside leave themselves open to their car being stolen and also not being covered by the insurance.
Ian Crowder of the AA says: “Cold weather is a car thief’s friend and the security of the car is only as strong as the security of your keys.
“If you put your keys in the car and then walk away from the vehicle you cannot expect your insurance to pay out.
“You have a duty of care to not behave in an idiotic manner which puts your property at risk.”
Top tips for deicing
1. First thing you should do is start your engine and circulated the air conditioning around as this is the most effective way to reduce frost.
2. Don’t use boiling water as this can cause the windscreen to scrape.
3. Do use a scraper and de-icer to remove the ice.
4. If it snowed, make sure you remove all snow before leaving as if you don’t you could be fined.
5. Make sure the car is clear from ice and forst before driving off. Driving off before it has all cleared could mean your view is obstructed or even land you a fine.
6. Don’t leave the car unattended at any point while de-icing.
