North Korea and its dictator Kim Jong-un will be up against Donald Trump who will defend the United States with “effective military power” if forced, according to Mike Pence.
It comes as North Korea has been ramping up its missile technology with regular rocket tests, including two intercontinental ballistic missiles launches and its sixth nuclear bomb detonation earlier this year.
Speaking at Minot Air Force Base, in North Dakota, Donald Trump’s right hand man, warned North Korea to “never doubt the capabilities” of his nation’s Armed Forces.
He said: “While President Trump has made clear that the United States has, in his words, ‘great strength and patience’, all options are on the table.
”Our enemies should never doubt the capabilities of the Armed Forces of the United States of America.

“Anyone who would threaten our nation should know that America always seeks peace, but if we are forced to defend ourselves or our allies, we will do so with military power that is effective and overwhelming.”
His remarks echoed the US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis, who warned North Korea should prepare for a US onslaught if it continues to escalate its war rhetoric.
The threat was issued by Mr Mattis after a visit to the demilitarised zone (DMZ) on the Korean border.
And while he said the US did not want to go to war with Kim Jong-un’s hermit state, he issued a clear military threat to the despot amid growing rumours of an imminent seventh nuclear test.
The Defence Secretary said: “North Korea provocations continue to threaten regional and world peace, and despite the unanimous condemnation by the United Nations Security Council, they still proceed.
“As the US Secretary of State has made clear, our goal is not war, but rather the complete verifiable and irreversible denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.”
