Fortnite Update: New Battle Royale patch arrives for PS4 and Xbox One – extra for PC

As you might already know, the new Fortnite update has gone live on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The new patch was deployed today, introducing new customisation options to the game which are available in the in-game shop and stored in Lockers.

Fans can now adjust banners, the harvest tool (pickaxe etc.), character or glider, as well as choose the way they load in.

“The patch will also include our initial step into progression and what it looks like in Fortnite Battle Royale, as well as adding an in-game item shop,” a message from Epic Games explains.

“Our first stab at progression will come in the form of daily challenges you can complete to raise your Season account level and earn rewards.

vCard QR Code

The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.

“You will also receive a banner flair to customize your banner at each level up until 49, at which point you can prestige your Season level.

“You’ll be able to earn two specific rewards simply by completing challenges and leveling up, a banner (Level 10) and a glider (Level 25). You will earn these permanently.”

Fortnite Shop details:

  • Players can now purchase a unique array of outfits, gliders and pickaxes in the new item shop.
  • Offers will rotate on both a weekly and daily basis
  • All items sold are cosmetic only and do not grant any competitive advantage
  • Purchased items can be equipped in the new locker screen prior to starting a match
  • Purchases from the Battle Royale store do not carryover to the Save the World mode.

Fortnite Locker details:

  • Players can customize their character’s appearance in the new Locker menu with the following options:
  • Set your banner image and color
  • Equip any purchased outfits, gliders or pickaxes

Epic Games also had some news for Fortnite Battle Royale fans concerning Slurp Juice.

The availability of Slurp Juice is being changed in a new hotfix, meaning it will only be found in Treasure Chests and Supply Drops.

However, Epic Games have also confirmed that this is a temporary change while they work towards improving the Slurp Juice formula.

Slurp Juice is a regeneration potion that grants one health and one shield per second for 25 seconds.

Slurp Juice can heal players all the way up to 100 health, with players able to stack up to two of them.

A new Fortnite Update was also released on PC, although this appears to be just a quick hotfix to remove an issue with the most recent game build.

“We have updated Fortnite to version 1.8.0.1 on PC to fix an issue caused by update 1.8. Please restart your game to receive the patch,” the patch notes read.

The new update also launched the Fortnitemares event, which introduces Halloween content to the game.

Included in that spooky bundle is 25 new story quests, cosmetics for Battle Royale and the new Hexsylvania zone.
