Jackie Chan almost DIED during stunt when a bone PIERCED his brain

Action movie stars can get fairly blase about the risks they take.

Especially the ones in Asia who regularly perform terrifying feats and often do much of it themselves, unlike many Western movie macho men.

Chan is widely accepted as the most injured action star in the world.

Considering his lengthy career performing death-defying stunts, that is probably not surprising. But even the fearless icon that is Jackie Chan admits that one terrifying moment almost ended everything.

Chan said: “I almost died.”

“A lot of people say ‘Did you break every bone (in your career)?’ I think not every bone but I can say every inch of my body I got cut burned twisted. But I think the most serious one was in Yugoslavia when I was making the film, Armour of God.”

Chan admits that, unusually, he had also been drinking between takes.

He told Yahoo Entertainment: “In the morning, I was drinking a beer in the movie… Then I jumped through a tree.”

The stunt involved jumping between two walls of a castle and then swinging through the branches of the trees below.

The first take was fine but the star wasn’t satisfied. He said: “It wasn’t fast enough. … I wanted to [swing] like a monkey.”

That’s when it all went terribly wrong.

On the second take, the action star crashed straight down and landed on a rock. At the time he still didn’t realise how serious the situation was as the crew started to panic.

He said: “I think I landed on my back first. I tried to get up but a lot of people pushed me down (saying) ’Don’t move, get the medic.’

“Suddenly I had a lot of things put in my ear. I think ‘What the hell is that?’ Then, wow, suddenly all the blood (was rushing) from my ear.”
