The 6.7 magniture quake hit this morning just between the Pacific and Indian oceans.
It landed the Ring of Fire, so-called because a huge number of earthquakes and volcnic eruptions take place.
The quake, which landed deep in the ocean, hit at just after midday UK time.
It is not known yet if there are any injuries or tsunami warnings.
