Star Wars fans have long speculated over Snoke’s (Andy Serkis) trajectory in the new movie, and now one leading theorist has suggested that Rey (Daisy Ridley) will be the centre of his scenes with Kylo (Adam Driver).
In the trailer for Episode 8: The Last Jedi, released earlier this month, Rey was seen being tortured by Snoke. Is that for Kylo’s benefit?
“I started wondering about the possibility of Snoke testing Kylo Ren’s loyalty,” Mike Zeroh said.
“So I think Kylo could be behind Rey, watching this happen. And Snoke is doing this to Ren to test his loyalty.”
This theory is rooted strongly in a moment in the novelisation for Episode 7: The Force Awakens.

He said: “In the novelisation lies something very intriguing. Snoke tells Kylo Ren about the girl, and he said, ‘you have compassion for her’, as if he’s suspicious of Kylo Ren’s emotions towards Rey.
“He denies it, he goes, ‘no, never’.
“From that point forward, applying that to a possible scene in which we have both Snoke and Kylo Ren looking looking at Rey being tortured, could very well be Snoke testing Kylo Ren’s loyalty and seeing if he’ll intervene to stop Snoke.
“Maybe to see if he flinches, or [has] emotions for Rey, or feeling bad for her. I think there could be a test here.”
Zeroh added: “I think it’s a big, big possibility that maybe Kylo Ren brings Rey to Snoke and that was his way of proving himself.
“And Snoke wants to take it to the extreme and really make sure Kylo Ren is still loyal to him.”
Other theories around the two include the possibility that Snoke could reject Kylo – so he can focus on Rey.
We’ll have answers when Star Wars 8: The Last Jedi releases on December 14.
