Gardai have put out an alert for the man who is belived to be armed.
Searches are being carried out in Tallaght.
Police said the incidents “occurred within a short space of time” in the Jobstown area.
No further details have been given by police but there are claims a man with a gun tried to hihack a car and forced his way into a house.
The Gardaa helicopter is involved in the searches, along with other units.
