X Factor’s Cheryl CONFIRMS music comeback: ‘It’s been so long!’

The popstar, 34, is back on The X Factor tonight – and told ITV’s Lorraine that she’ll also be gracing the recording studio again in the foreseeable future.

Asked if she has plans to release new material, she said: “I am!”

Reminded of the long gap since her last LP, which spawned the hits Crazy Stupid Love and I Don’t Care, she said: “It has been so long, they’re [fans] very patient. It’s been so long, hasn’t it?”

“I do have plans and I am receiving songs and music and stuff at the moment.”

That said, her fully-fledged return to the charts will have to wait until newborn son Bear is very slightly older.

“I just want more time with Bear at the moment,” she admitted.

“I’ve got the luxury of being able to spend time with my newborn child and I’ll take that for what it is.

“A lot of mothers have to rush back to work and that’s not really fair.”

Cheryl is the joint-holder of the record for most UK number one hits as a solo female; a title she shares with Jess Glynne.

In addition to the aforementioned two tracks, she’s also reached the summit with Fight For This Love (2009), Promise This (2010) and Call My Name (2012).

She’s back on The X Factor tonight at 8pm on ITV.
