Arsenal news: Fans want Nelson, Willock to start vs Everton ahead of star duo – Le Tissier

That is according to Sky Sports pundit and legendary Southampton striker Matt Le Tissier.

Nelson and Willock have starred for Arsenal in their Europa League campaign so far this season, with 20-year-old Ainsley Maitland-Niles also impressing.

However, Nelson, 17, and Willock, 18, are yet to make an appearance in the Premier League.

Arsenal have lost three of their opening eight league games of the season and go into tomorrow’s game at Everton (1.30pm) with their title hopes fading before their eyes.

Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling asked Le Tissier if Arsenal fans would prefer to see the youngsters instead of the likes of Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka.

“Would Arsenal fans actually like to see the likes of 17-year-old Reiss Nelson, 18-year-old Joe Willock, 20-year-old Ainsley Maitland-Niles?” Stealing said.

“Would they like to see them getting a chance in the Premier League instead of the same old, same old, the Xhakas and Ozils of this world?”

Le Tissier was unequivocal in his response, saying: “100 per cent, 100 per cent.

“Because if things aren’t working properly, why do you keep putting the same people in the same position?

“If it’s not working, you have to try and change it.

“This is what frustrates me about the Premier League in this day and age. So many good players are going by the wayside because you’re not giving them a chance.

“You’ll never know until you stick those players in.

“They can do whatever they want in training, until you put them in a game situation, with a full stadium, you will never know how much they can grow as a footballer. That frustrates the hell out of me.”
