iPhone 8 is not as popular as iPhone 7, new data shows

iPhone 8 might not be the best-seller Apple had hoped.

According to KeyBanc Capital Markets analyst John Vinh, customers are buying more iPhone 7 handsets than iPhone 8.

hasn’t released sales numbers for the iPhone 8, something the Cupertino company .

Customers were still able to buy an iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus ready for pick-up on launch day the week of the release.

In previous years, Apple has sold-out of all its new handsets within hours of pre-orders going live.

There are a number of reasons customers could be turning to iPhone 7 over the iPhone 8.

Firstly, the all-new iPhone X – which sports a stunning redesign, beautiful edge-to-edge OLED display, and FaceID facial recognition camera – will be available to pre-order October 27th.

It is possible customers who were thinking about opting for the iPhone 8 have decided to hold-out for the iPhone X.

Finally, Apple has kept the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in its line-up – and dropped the price.

It’s possible the $150 price difference in the US store is enough to sway customers, who do not see enough of a value proposition in paying extra for the iPhone 8.

KeyBanc Capital Markets analyst John Vinh does not mention sales figures in the UK market.

However, customers on British shores face the same decision as those in the US, with the iPhone X available to buy next week.

Pre-orders for the new iPhone will be available online on Friday October 27th 2017.

If Apple follows its usual timeline (and there’s no reason to believe it won’t this time around) then pre-orders will be available from 8:01am in the UK and Ireland.

Those abroad should check the Apple Store at 12:01am US Pacific Time, US Central Time 2:01am, Canada (Toronto) 3:01am, Central European Time 9:01am, Australia 3:01pm, and Japan (Tokyo) 4:01pm.

Customers can place a pre-order for the new iPhone models via the Apple Store website, or within the iOS app.

Orders can be reserved for pick-up in brick-and-mortar Apple Stores, or posted to home addresses, on Friday November 3rd.

Those on the iPhone Upgrade Programme are eligible to upgrade to the latest hardware every year.

If you’d prefer to buy your new iPhone via a mobile operator, many of the biggest UK carriers have launched pages to register an interest in the iPhone X.

Registering with an email address will keep you posted with the latest updates about the iPhone X.

Contracts for the iPhone X look like they will range from around £60 to £80 per month, depending on the mobile carrier, mobile data allowance, upfront cost, and more.
