Warning: potential spoilers ahead.
Posting on Reddit, one fan shared a GIF of behind-the-scenes footage, showing what appears to be John Boyega’s Finn kneeling in front of a stormtrooper – and it looks very much like he’s been captured and is pending punishment.
Reacting, another fan replied with a separate image, showing the character – although in this case possibly portrayed by a stunt double – in the same position, while a stormtrooper holding a very scary looking weapon stands before him.
So does this mean Finn will meet his end?
Speculation on the Reddit thread points to a close no, with some speculating that Finn’s much-hyped battle with Captain Phasma – as teased in last week’s trailer – will come after this moment.
“Good find [original poster],” wrote one. “This makes sense considering we’ve seen merchandise of a First Order Executioner. This would fit that perfectly.”
Another said: “Yeah I don’t see beheading in this. The subject would be restrained and it would be unlikely they would behead facing the target as the neck is more prevalent from behind. The stormtrooper has a blaster at his back.
“I am just thinking they are arresting him.”
