Earlier this week the first trailer for X-Men horror, New Mutants landed, providing a number of jump scares.
With the release of a new X-Men movie, fans are often wondering how it will tie-in to previous movies in the franchise – especially with all the time travel craziness in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Now director Josh Boone has provided something of a teaser on the matter, in a recent interview with IGN.
He said: “It takes place present day.”
With that in mind New Mutants will be set in the same period as Deadpool 2, although how those two movies connect – if at all – remains a mystery for now.

When asked how his X-Men horror ties in to other films in the universe, Boone was remaining tight-lipped.
He added: “I can’t… there’s some things I can’t talk about.
“I can just say it is connected to and a part of the X-Men universe, and will continue to be a part of the X-Men universe and will be a part of that as it opens up in the next movies and all that.”

In the meantime Marvel fans have X-Men: Dark Phoenix to also look forward in November 2018 – a film set in the 1990s and following the events of X-Men: Apocalypse.
Then there’s Channing Tatum’s Gambit, presumably set in present day, which has been announced for February 2019.
The New Mutants will be released in UK cinemas on April 13, 2018.
