The 34-year-old Aussie has been playing the Asgardian prince for the last six years across five movies.
His latest, Thor: Ragnarok, is released at the end of the month and Hemsworth has now admitted he was getting bored of playing the superhero.
Lucky for him, comic director Taika Watiti was brought on board to helm the movie – creating something new and fresh.
Hemsworth announced the news when appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this week.
The Thor star revealed: “Every day was about exploring the unknown and trying something different.

“I had got pretty bored of myself as that character and so did [Taika], maybe a few people out there [too], so we thought, ‘Let’s do something different’.”
While difference is always a risk, the early reactions to Thor: Ragnarok are very positive, highlighting the movie’s humour.
Hemsworth is next set to return for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 in 2019.
A leaked trailer for Infinity War began with Thor smashing into the Guardians of the Galaxy’s ship, only to be knocked out.
Perhaps Thor: Ragnarok will reveal how he ended up in this situation, or better yet it will be an end credits scene.
Thor Ragnarok is released in UK cinemas on October 24, 2017.
