Jurgen Klopp’s men have had a disappointing start to the campaign, and they are currently seventh in the Premier League table, seven points adrift of the pace-setters Manchester City and United.
Liverpool’s highlight of the campaign so far was their 4-0 thrashing of the Gunners back in August at Anfield.
The Reds counter-attacked at will as Arsene Wenger’s side were suffocated.
United travel to Anfield on Saturday (12.30pm), looking to keep up their rich vein of form.
And Murphy thinks Klopp’s men need to replicate their tactics against Arsenal if they are going to get three points against United.

“When Liverpool beat Arsenal so convincingly at Anfield, Liverpool kept dropping off,” Murphy told the Premier League’s site.
“There was no high press. They let Arsenal have it.
“And then when it got to a certain point they pressed and kept hitting them on the break and killing them because Arsenal were high up the pitch. Liverpool were tactically brilliant that day.”
Murphy also thinks Jose Mourino could leave everyone guessing with his tactics.
He added: “You never know with Mourinho, he can change his ways.
“He has been known to be pragmatic and put everyone behind the ball and nick a 1-0 win. But he’s done the opposite at times.
“When he went to Chelsea [last season] and went man to man [marking], it was brilliant.”
