Mount Agung could erupt at any moment with Indonesian authorities warning that the potential for an eruption remains high.

After the region experienced more than 200 earthquakes, locals are living in a state of panic after Bali governor I Made Mangku Pastika declared the island is under a state of emergency.

The Google alert, named ‘Mount Agung volcano eruption’, is currently at the top of search results when people look for the incident or location.

Locals will be provided with maps, top stories and information from local experts.

Some will be provided with a notification on their mobile phone to direct them to information, depending on how close they are to the affected areas.

More than 140,000 locals were evacuated from the Mount Agung region, but now half of them have returned to their homes.

The danger zone stretches 7.5 miles around the Bali volcano and white steam continues to pour out of Mount Agung.

“Based on seismometer measurements, deformation of the body of the mountain, visual aberration of craters as well as the intensity of smoke from the crater, and the thermal image of the satellite, indicates the potential for eruption is still high,” read a statement from Indonesia’s Center for Volcanology of Geological Hazard Mitigation.

Mount Agung has not erupted since 1963, when it killed more than 1,100 people and injured 300 more.
