Super Mario Odyssey contains an old-school surprise or two on Nintendo Switch.
With the release date just a few weeks away, the brand new Super Mario Odyssey trailer reveals everything you need to know about the upcoming Nintendo Switch exclusive.
Towards the end of the trailer, Mario is shown navigating a construction site while avoiding barrels and collecting coins.

Retro gaming fans will recall that Pauline was captured by Donkey Kong in the classic arcade game.

And speaking of old-school Super Mario Bros gameplay, it was recently revealed that levels will be filled with 2D sections when players enter special pipes.
As Mario merges with the wall, players must guide him to the exit, all the while avoiding Bullet Bills, stomping Goombas and collecting coins in classic 2D gameplay.
It’s very similar to The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, which saw Link solve puzzles and reach secret areas by shuffling along walls.
Express Online recently went hands-on with Super Mario Odyssey and preview some of the new game worlds, including the Cap Kingdom, Luncheon Kingdom and Seaside Kingdom.
And it’s in the Seaside Kingdom where one of the best Super Mario boss fights of all time takes place.
It all revolves around a giant octopus that has bottled up the kingdom’s famous sparkle water.
The battle takes place over the entire stage and requires Mario to capture the local wildlife to succeed.
