The Category 1 Hurricane began battering the US mainland on Saturday night.
President Trump’s declaration authorised the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to coordinate all disaster relief work.
The storm is currently travelling at 85 mph, according to NOAA National Hurricane Center (NHC), and it threatens Louisiana and Alabama.
