Jolyon Palmer to quit Renault after Japanese Grand Prix – Fans show sympathy for axed ace

Palmer has struggled in comparison to team-mate Nico Hulkenberg at Renault this season, and will be replaced by Carlos Sainz following this weekend’s race.

Sainz has already been signed for 2018, while Daniil Kvyat will return to Toro Rosso alongside Pierre Gasly, after being replaced by the Frenchman earlier this year.

Palmer has struggled with reliability but has also lacked pace compared to Hulkenberg, scoring just eight points to the German’s 34.

However, fans have backed the 26-year-old on Twitter for the way , with many saying Palmer has been treated harshly.
