Tottenham News: Harry Kane refuses to rule out move in the long-term to Spain

Reports from Europe claiming Spanish giants Real Madrid were preparing a £177m bid for the striker were not being entertained for a second by the north London club yesterday, who point out the club’s talisman is already under contract until 2022.

Kane himself was going through his paces at the Tottenham training ground with the England squad, more concerned about leading his country out tonight against Slovenia in search of the win that will guarantee Gareth Southgate’s side a place in next summer’s World Cup finals.

However, Real Madrid’s former Tottenham star Gareth Bale always let it be known from an early age that he had ambitions to test himself abroad. The latest round of speculation was an opportunity to find out if Kane had similar ambitions.

HARRY KANE UNCOVERED: TOTTENHAM STAR WON’T BE FOLLOWING IN GARETH BALE’S FOOTSTEPS ANYTIME SOON

“I would never say no,” he replied. “I would never say yes. I think in football, you never know and you never rule out anything. It is not something that I definitely want to do but it could happen. You just never know.

“Like you said, at the moment, I am very happy where I am here – that is all that matters. We will see what happens, but for now that is all I am focusing on.”

Kane will wear the armband for the third time, having previously led the side in the two internationals in June against Scotland and France.

He is looking to join David Platt and Victorian international Dr Tinsley Lindley as the only men to have scored on each of their first three occasions as captain.

The FA say more than 60,000 fans are expected at Wembley after a potential tube strike was called off on Tuesday.
