‘He could have killed many more’ Paddock had enough guns and ammo to EXTEND killing spree

There were 75 minutes between the first shots being fired at the audience of Route 91 Harvest Festoval and police finding Paddock’s body on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel, Sheriff Lombardo said.

CCTV from the festival venue shows the shooting began at 10.05pm and continued until 10.15pm.

Paddock had killed 59 people and injured more than 520 in that 10 minute spree, but the toll could have been much higher.

Sheriff Lombardo said he did not know why the crazed gunman brought his killing spree to an end.

He said: “He could have continued firing. Some of his guns were jammed but he could have continued.”

Officers arrived on the 32nd floor at 10.17pm and one minute later a security guard, who had been shot and injured by Paddock, gave them the 64-year-old’s exact location.

Sheriff Lombardo said: “His bravery was amazing. He remained with officers and actually continued to help clear rooms until officer told him to seek medical attention.”

The officers spent the next 30 minutes formulating a plan to enter Paddock’s room. Sheriff Lombardo described the delay as “purposeful and no shots were being heard at this point”.

While the first strike team prepared to enter the room a second strike team comprised of a SWAT officer, patrol officers wearing heavy tactical gear and carrying a large bag with tactical equipment and holding rifles and two canine officers arrived.

At 11.20pm, officers used explosives to storm Paddock’s room and found his body on the floor.

Crime scene investigators have yet to pinpoint when Paddock shot himself but Sheriff Lombardo said evidence suggested Paddock intended to survive the shooting.
