Las Vegas shooting: Stephen Paddock’s ‘psychopathic’ father was on FBI Most Wanted list

Paddock was named as the Las Vegas shooter who killed at least 59 people and injured 527 more in what has been described as the deadliest mass shooting in US history.

The 64-year-old gunman fired bullets at concertgoers attending the Route 91 Harvest country music festival from the 32nd-floor window of his hotel room at the Mandalay Bay on Sunday night.

As authorities struggle to find a motive for the attack, it has been revealed that his father Benjamin Hoskins Paddock, who went by alias “Big Daddy”, “Chromedome” and “Old Baldy”, was on the FBI’s Most Wanted list from June 10, 1969 through May 5, 1977.

An FBI poster described the elder Paddock as being “diagnosed as psychopathic” with “reportedly suicidal tendencies” who “has carried firearms in commission of bank robberies”.

It added he “should be considered armed and very dangerous”.

The elder Paddock landed on the infamous list after he escaped from a Texas federal prison in 1960 where he had reportedly been serving a 20 year sentence for bank robbery.

His son and the brother of the Las Vegas shooter, Eric Paddock said: ”I did not know him. We did not know him.

”He was never with my mom. I was born on the run and that is the last time he was ever associated with by our family.”

Eric Paddock also revealed his family is still coming to grip with the actions of his brother.

He said: “We have no idea. We’re horrified. We’re bewildered and our condolences go out to the victims.

“We have no idea in the world.”

He also revealed his brother was a retired accountant who enjoyed playing $100-a-hand poker, adding he “was a wealthy guy playing video poker… on cruises”.

Eric, who lives in Orlando, described his sibling as a gambler with “no religious affiliation, no political affiliation”, or history of mental illness.

He added: “The fact that he had those kinds of weapons is just … where the hell did he get automatic weapons? He has no military background or anything like that.

“He’s a guy who lived in a house in Mesquite and drove down and gambled in Las Vegas.”

Stephen Paddock was not known to police before the attack that devastated America.
