Las Vegas shooting: How YOU can donate blood to help victims

Gunman Stephen Paddock, 64, opened fire on festivalgoers from his hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Hotel at about 10.08pm local time last night.

Las Vegas police are urging Americans to donate blood for victims fighting for their lives after Paddock shot into the crowd of more than 22,000 people.

Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo has issued a public appeal for blood donors saying the mass casualty had led to a “need for blood” to keep wounded patients alive.

He said: “United Blood Services have their services set up currently. They are receiving patients or donors at 6930 West Charleston and 601 Whitney Ranch in Henderson.

“If you have the ability to donate blood to help us, please do so.”

Queues of people waiting to give blood have already formed outside many United Blood Services (UBS) centres across the state of Nevada.

Bridget Bennett, from the UBS on West Charleston, tweeted: “It’s 6:40 am, and there is a line out the door and around the block. People waiting to donate blood at United Blood Services.”

Meanwhile, KTNV reporter Yasmeen Hassan tweeted: ”The line to donate blood is out the door at United Blood Service. People have been here all night waiting for it to open.”

You can donate blood to Las Vegas shooting victims at the following UBS locations:
