It has already been a dismal season for Hollywood, with major flops and underperforming blockbusters across the board.
Pennywise may have scared some much-needed bums onto seats but not even the IT movie can save the summer single-handed. Just when fans thought it was safe to come out from the sewers, a new blockbuster looks set to tank with some truly appailing reviews.
With hindsight, Hollywood might look back and see the ironic amusement in the ill-fated movie’s title, but for now it looks like this movie may be beyond resuscitation.ย
It’s bad news for Grantchester fans as James Norton’s first foray into big screen blockbusters faces humiliating reviews.
The remake of the 1990 sci-fi film Flatliners is out now in UK cinemas. It stars Norton alongside Ellen Page, Rogue One’s Diego Luna and Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev.

The film tells the story of foolish young scientists who want to see if there is life beyond death.
Critics have absolutely stuck in the knife and the movie looks dead on arrival.
FLATINERS REVIEWS ROUND-UP NEXT:
Rolling Stone: “A fright-free fiasco. This update of a silly 1990 Julia Roberts thriller is even more witless and stupefyingly dull than the original.”
Variety: “About as inessential as reboots get, “Flatliners”… otherwise offers no reason for reanimating this long-expired property.”
Time Out: “Somebody get a defibrillator in here, stat.”
indieWire: “An agonizingly boring remake of a movie about the danger of bringing things back from the dead.”
Empire Magazine: “The original Flatliners should have had a ‘Do Not Resuscitate’ order attached to it.”
Screen International: “A sleek visual polish and a game cast can’t disguise the fact that Flatliners is one film that should have carried a Do Not Resuscitate Order.”
AV Club: “Flatliners 2017 is the same dumb movie as Flatliners 1990, minus most of the surface charisma.”
