Bali volcano UPDATE: Terrifying video shows Mount Agung spew smoke – ERUPTION LOOMS

More than 140,000 residents have been evacuated after hundreds of earthquakes were recorded across Bali with set to explode, according to experts.

White smoke continues to be observed rising between 50m and 200m above the summit of Bali volcano Mount Agung.

Shock video, posted online by ABC News’ correspondent Adam Harvey, shows Mount Agung pouring with smoke as experts warn of an imminent eruption.

The Indonesian Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation has raised the volcano alert to 4, meaning an eruption is expected.

Gede Swantika, head of volcanology for the organisation, said: “Smoke could con tin for the next few days or weeks, but an eruption could also happen at any time given its condition is very critical.”

A new graph released by MAGAM Indonesia shows the thousands of tremors felt around Mount Agung.

There have been more than 650 instances of seismic activity recorded each day since last Thursday, September 21. On some days there have been almost 1,000 tremors.

The National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) amid the mass evacuations around the Bali volcano has warned those refusing to leave the danger zone, due to conformation or, in some cases, stubbornness.

An American expat who has already fled his home with his family echoed the warning.

Kenny Peavy said: “Some people don’t want to go, they don’t want to leave their house.

“I think there are some people that either don’t understand, or don’t believe, or are just stubborn and don’t want to go.”

Within the 7.5-mile danger zone surrounding Mount Agung, many areas are threatened by the potential of pyroclastic flow – a burning path of rock, gas and ash that can reach hundreds of degrees.
