The King of Asgard has not been seen since 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, when it was revealed that Loki has taken his likeness on the throne.
But then in last year’s Doctor Strange, an end credits scene saw Thor in New York asking the Sorcerer Supreme to help find his father.
This ties in with set photos from last year showing Thor and Loki searching the streets of the Big Apple for Odin, who was spotted dressed as a tramp, so this looks like how Thor Ragnarok is set to begin.
According to Screen Rant’s theory, at some point Hela will appear broken free from imprisonment to reclaim the Soul Stone.
After all, she was shown looking dishevelled in the Thor: Ragnarok trailer, before shattering Thor’s hammer.

But why would Odin have the Soul Stone? Well it’s believed that she once wielded it as Goddess of Death, but Odin’s father Bor defeated her, imprisoned her and passed the Infinity Gem on to his son.
It’s presumed that Odin has been keeping the Soul Gem in his eye socket, behind his metal patch, which would explain his apparent omniscience of other people in previous Thor films – something he could also have shared with Heimdall, the all-seeing guardian of Asgard.
So back to Thor: Ragnarok. With Thor compromised, Hela needs to take the Soul Stone from Odin.
This looks likely to happen as the trailer showed Hela revitalised as Goddess of Death, surrounded by an orange energy – the same colour as the Soul Stone.
For Hela to activate the Soul Stone’s power as wielder, she needs souls to feed it.
So presumably, upon taking it from Odin, she will murder him?
