Blade Runner 2049: Is Rick Deckard a replicant? Harrison Ford SPEAKS OUT

It’s been a debate that has had fans scratching their heads since the original movie was released back in 1982.

Is Ford’s Deckard, a cop assigned to hunt down a group of escaped replicants (robots indistinguishable from humans), actually one himself?

Now as the long-awaited sequel is about to be released, the 75-year-old star has spoken out on the issue.

Speaking with Vice, Ford said: “I think it’s quite well known that my attitude about the character when I was working with Ridley was that the audience would require or would feel more comfortable if there’s an assurance that at least one person on the screen was of their animal nature.

He continued: “They might be encouraged to have an emotional representative on screen, but I think my question and my confidence in my answer was more important than getting Ridley’s support or acquiescence.

“It’s really a question that is part of the fabric of this thing, and it’s proved to be of interest to many people or of amusement to many people, so just leave it lay like that.”

Not exactly a concrete answer, but perhaps the answer is awaiting fans in Blade Runner 2049?

He revealed: “They finally came up with a good story.

“There was never an intention to make a sequel as the first one didn’t do well enough at the box office because it was wildly weird for the time.”

Blade Runner 2049 will be released in UK cinemas on October 5, 2017.
