Work STARTS on Donald Trump’s Mexican border wall as US agents ready for ANGRY backlash

Once constructed, the US Customs and Border Protection will decide which of the prototypes, if any, it wishes to use on the barrier.

The wall prototypes are being constructed in San Diego and will be built within approximately 30 days, according to the US border agency.

The work is taking place in the area of Otay Mesa and is being overseen by security from state, local and federal agents.

Each of the eight prototypes will be up to 30feet in height and width, however, the specifics of each design is unknown.

Fears of a public reaction are being taken seriously with chain-link fences, barriers and cameras decorating the construction site.

The heightened security is a response to fears of mass protests in the region surrounding the contentious border solution.

Donald Trump stated his intention for the wall to be see-through, indicating that traditional concrete designs would be shunned.

The US Customs and Border Protection acting deputy commissioner, Ronald Vitiello, said: “We are committed to securing our border and that includes constructing border walls.

“Our multi-pronged strategy to ensure the safety and security of the American people includes barriers, infrastructure, technology and people.

“Moving forward with the prototypes enables us to continue to incorporate all the tools necessary to secure our border.”

Despite prior remarks made by Trump, four of the wall prototypes will go ahead with a concrete design with the additional four being made of more experimental materials.

Construction firms made bids ranging from £223,170 ($300,000) to £372,000 ($500,000) in order to be in with a chance of being the final contractor for Presidents much discussed border solution.

Once all the designs are complete, the winner will be selected by the Customs and Border Protection.

Trump has previously reiterated that Mexico will pay for the construction of the wall.

The President tweeted: “With Mexico being one of the highest crime Nations in the world, we must have THE WALL. Mexico will pay for it through reimbursement/other.”
