FIFA 18 news: Tottenham’s Dele Alli tells Rio Ferdinand he is NOT pleased with his stats

Alli has been instrumental in Tottenham’s rise since his move from MK Dons in 2015.

The tough-tackling midfielder has won the PFA Young Player of the Year award in both his seasons with Spurs.

The England man expressed his dismay on seeing how lowly his skills have been rated by the latest installment of the video game.

“I thought [my ratings] were going to be more realistic this time,” the England midfielder told Rio Ferdinand at the launch of FIFA 18.

“It’s [the same] every year! I think my defending stat of 64 is really low.

“When I started out at MK Dons I was playing defensive midfielder, so I think I’m a lot better at defending than what I am according to this.

“I’m quite slow so the pace is alright (76). Shooting should probably be higher, and dribbling higher.”

When Ferdinand asked him to score himself on pace however, Alli rated himself at 82.

Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand has decided to take up boxing since retiring from football in 2015.

And he was disappointed that “20-goal-a-season” Alli’s shooting had been rated at just 80 by the game’s creators EA Sports.

The Spurs man gave himself an extra seven points when it came to shooting, but it was his passing number that seemed to annoy Alli most.

Ferdinand asked if he rated himself on the “finesse pass”, otherwise known as the triangle button through-ball.

His original stat was just 77 for passing – but the 21-year-old believes he’s worth a hugely improved ranking of 91.

Alli jokingly blamed Harry Kane’s lack of runs in behind defences for the reason his passing stats were down, causing Ferdinand to burst out laughing.

He also said he could stand to do more work in the gym which would account for his relatively low physical rating.

Rio Ferdinand caught up with Dele Alli at the FIFA 18 UK Launch, ahead of the game’s release on September 29th, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and all other platforms.
