Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford star in the new sci-fi from Denis Villeneuve – and it seems anybody sceptical about the film’s existence can rest easy.
In short, the reception so far is outstanding.
“In terms of science fiction filmmaking and world-building, #BladeRunner2049 might be a masterpiece,” one audience member said. “I think I loved it. Want to see it again.”

The praise kept coming as a third viewer beamed: “BLADE RUNNER 2049 is sci-fi masterpiece; the kind of deep-cut genre film we don’t see anymore. Visually mind blowing, absolutely fantastic.”
“Good news! BLADE RUNNER 2049 is a terrific continuation and expansion of the orig. Wasn’t hoping for much, ended up LOVING it. (Even Leto!),” enthused someone else.
“Everyone bow down to Denis Villeneuve. He’s done the impossible and delivered a huge home run with ‘Blade Runner 2049’. Loved it,” read yet another post.
More in-depth critiques will begin to surface once reviews land nearer the time of release.
Director Villeneuve is on something of a role at the moment, and it’s now speculated that he could step into the James Bond universe next.
It’s been claimed that he is the frontrunner to be the Bond 25 director ahead of its November 2019 release.
Blade Runner 2049 is out on October 5.
