And a number of iPhone owners have since upgrading to the latest operating system.

However, these are the minority and most users will see enormous benefit in the new features bundled with iOS 11.

But one of the most useful new software features isn’t immediately obvious.

Apple has included a one-handed keyboard to help those who struggle to use the larger 5.5-inch iPhone Plus models while texting and walking.

If you’re walking along juggling a piping hot coffee and a 5.5-inch iPhone, long-press on the Globe icon (or Smiley Face icon, if you only have one language installed on your iOS device) in the bottom-left corner of the keyboard to load the one-handed options.

Pressing on the icon will load a list of all the keyboards currently installed on the iPhone, as well as a tab for Emoji and a shortcut to the Keyboard Settings menu in the Settings app.

There’s also a series of three small icons that show the keyboard shifting from the left-corner to the right-corner.

Tap on any of these icons to group the keys into one corner of the display – making it easier to type one-handed.

Each one-handed keyboard set-up comes with a large arrow that returns the keyboard back to normal.

On Plus-sized iPhones, rotating the smartphone into landscape will temporarily bring back a full-sized keyboard.

The iOS 11 one-handed keyboard is available on all 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone models.
