Xbox One NEWS: Games with Gold October 2017 reveal, HUGE Backwards Compatibility update

Xbox One fans are counting down to the Games with Gold October 2017 reveal.

And with the month almost at an end, fans should find out the October 2017 games lineup on either Monday or Tuesday.

The first Xbox One and Xbox 360 Games with Gold titles would then be available from October 1. This would be followed by the second batch of games on October 16.

The games list currently remains a mystery, but a horror game is always a good bet going into October.

For the time being, fans can download the likes of Forza 5 and Oxenfree. You can see the current lineup below…

  • Forza Motorsport 5: Racing Game of the Year Edition: Available September 1 to 30 on Xbox One
  • Oxenfree Available September 16 to October 15 on Xbox One
  • Battlefield 3: Available September 16 to 30 on Xbox One and Xbox 360

Xbox One Backwards Compatibility just got a major boost, as Microsoft adds four huge classics to the scheme.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4 are all now backwards compatible on Xbox One.

This includes all of the original campaigns and multiplayer.

Even better news is that the Halo games come with free DLC, which means even more maps for multiplayer.

The Halo series took longer than expected to come to backwards compatibility, as 343 spent more time making sure they were up to scratch.

“We know everyone is very eager to get their hands on the Xbox One back-compat release of Halo: CE Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, and Halo 4,” reads a recent 343 blog post.

“We are eager to get them into your hands! The Xbox back-compat team is hard at work on final polish and we continue to work closely with them to help test and evaluate all four games for launch.

“We’re taking extra time to ensure the experience lives up to fan expectations but I hear we’re making great progress and release should be getting closer.”

Xbox One Backwards Compatibility is about to add a true classic to the games list.

Microsoft has confirmed plans to make Fable Anniversary available as part of Xbox One Backwards Compatibility.

That’s according to Microsoft’s Phil Spencer, who said that Fable Anniversary is being worked on right now.

“Hey Phil can we expect Fable anniversary to go backwards compatible on the Xbox One any time soon I have been waiting ages,” asked one fan on Twitter.

Spencer replied: “This should come, it’s being worked on now.”

Fable Anniversary is one of the most requested games on Backwards Compatibility, securing 34,000 votes from fans.
