Gemma Wilson, 35, who was trekking along the Annapurna Circuit with her teenage stepson, had stopped to buy refreshments at a tea house but received a barrage of abuse after questioning the amount they were charged.
The holidaymaker complained about being charged 150 rupees (£1) for a black tea and insisted she usually paid less.
Ms Wilson told the Mirror: “I always ask how much something is first before buying and for some reason I didn’t this time. I had always paid 50 rupee for black tea.
“When I got up to pay she told it was 150 rupee. I asked her again and she repeated it, so I got the money out and paid her, but I said to her it was seriously pricey.”
After the pair left the tea shop, they stopped to take a photograph of the sign outside, which did not go down well with the shop owner.

She allegedly ran towards them and called Ms Wilson a “b***h” before attempting to attack her with a plank of wood.
The woman reportedly threw stones at the pair as she then proceeded to chase them down the mountain.
The extraordinary incident was captured on a camera worn on Ms Wilson’s body. In the video, the tea seller can be heard saying: “You English people are rich. Why bargain?”
The trekker can be heard pleading with the furious woman – she says “please, I said I’m sorry” and “you’re scaring my son”.
Speaking after the episode, Ms Wilson said she was unharmed apart from a bruise on her hand.
She said: “I was just begging her to leave us alone.
“I knew fighting back was a really bad idea because had I gone over the edge it is highly likely I would have died.”
