07.55: Tony Pulis is delighted to still have Jonny Evans on board after interest from Arsenal and Manchester City.

Both clubs made moves for Evans this summer but West Brom stuck with their valuation and saw off the interest.

United want Sanchez

07.45: Manchester United want to hijack rivals Manchester City’s move for Alexis Sanchez.

The Arsenal star was close to joining City this summer after a £60m bid was accepted on the proviso Thomas Lemar would move to Arsenal.

But Lemar rejected the move causing Sanchez’s transfer to collapse and now Jose Mourinho is looking at making a bid.

The Sun claim United have been quoted a £25m signing on fee with Sanchez available on a free transfer this summer with his contract set to expire.

The move will be a test of Sanchez’s relationship with Pep Guardiola.

City are also thought to be ready to make a move in January and will be on alert with United now in the mix.

Costa warning

07.30: Spain boss Juan Lopetegui has told Chelsea Diego Costa he needs to be playing regularly to be considered for the national team.

Costa remains in exile in Brazil with a move to Atletico Madrid still taking time to complete.

“We are not angry,” Lopetegui told beIN SPORTS. 

“Costa’s summer has been unusual, strange, complicated — not just for him but for his club. He is still a Chelsea player. It’s a complicated issue.

“Our hope is that he will resolve his situation as soon as possible and that he can compete, train and play, which is what he likes doing the most and what interests the national team.”

Muller move

07.15: Liverpool tried to sign Thomas Muller this summer, according to reports in Germany.

Jurgen Klopp made an outrageous bid to bring the Germany star to Anfield as he looked for alternatives for Philippe Coutinho who was wanted by Barcelona.

The La Liga giants made moves for Coutinho, who submitted a transfer request, but saw them rejected as Liverpool failed to bring in a replacement.

And it has now emerged that Klopp tried to get Muller in, according to Bild.
