Shadow of the Colossus made something of a surprise appearance during the Sony E3 2017 press conference.
Just a few hours after fans discovered a trademark filing for a new Shadow of the Colossus game, Sony lifted the lid on the PS4 remake.
The new Shadow of the Colossus has been built from the ground-up, featuring impressive new visuals and animations.
Sony didn’t give an exact release date for the PS4 remake, beyond suggesting that it would launch in 2018.
This was confirmed at TGS, where Sony told fans that it would launch next year.
The only bad news is that the Shadow of the Colossus remake won’t come with any new content.
“It is a remake,” Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida told Famitsu (via Siliconera). “The game content is the same as the original version, but all the assets are being remade.
“I figured we could use such tech to make if we’re going to make Shadow of the Colossus in the PS4 era.
“Bluepoint is the development company behind the PS3 remaster versions of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. So we know them rather well.”
On the plus side, it will have new control options, although the original control scheme will remain intact.
