North Koreans told Kim Jong-un has won PRAISE around globe for supreme nuclear power

Kim Jong-un’s secretive state launched its sixth and most powerful nuclear test earlier this month.

The actions caused uproar around the globe, with US President Donald Trump yesterday threatening to “totally destroy” the country.

But North Korea’s state-run media have seized on comments by tiny sympathetic groups in the war-ravaged Democratic Republic of the Congo and small west African nation of Benin to claim the state has won global praise.

The DR Congo-Korea Friendship and Solidarity Association said the launch on September 5 showed the North Know ranked “among the world’s nuclear powers”.

It said the state’s nuclear ambitions were “a great deed” which provided a “firm guarantee for peace”.

The group went on: “It is a measure for self-defence to cope with the hostile policy of the US which deployed its military bases in South Korea and has posed constant nuclear threat and sanctions.”

And the Benin-Korea Amicable Association said nothing could stop the North from “dashing toward a socialist power like the storming wind.”

They went on: “We are convinced that the Korean people closely united around Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un will win in the struggle to build a powerful socialist nation and reunify the country.”

It was claimed both statements were also signed by groups who “study the Juche idea”, a reference to the North Korea ideology introduced by Kim Il-sung.

The nation’s press have also claimed the country’s Cuban ambassador Jesus De Los Angeles Aise Sotolongo singled out the country for praise on its 69th anniversary celebration.

He was quoted as saying that the North was “demonstrating its dignity as a prosperous and powerful” socialist country under the dynamic and seasoned guidance of respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un.”

Cuba would stand by the nation, despite the “unreasonable” sanctions, he claimed.

The North also used examples from Syrian television to show other countries were rallying to its cause.

It quoted the newspaper Al Baath as praising the state for its “world-startling miracles and innovations”.

The claims come as tensions continue to run high between the state and the international community.

During a speech to the UN, President Donald Trump mocked Jong-un as “rocket man” and again threatened him with force.

He said: “The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea.

“Rocket man is on a suicide mission for himself and his regime.”

In response, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said “no-one in their right minds” wants military action.

The UN Security Council has imposed nine rounds of sanctions on North Korea since 2006.

It imposed the latest earlier this month, aimed at restricting fuel supplies and cutting off textile exports

The United States has urged China, North Korea’s main ally and trading partner, and Russia to do more to rein in the despot.
